Atlas to Atlantic: A first

The Atlas to Atlantic trek started at the summit of Mount Toubkal (4167m), the highest point of North Africa, and finished at sea level, with our feet in the Atlantic Ocean at Agadir. Three hundred kilometres up and down across the Atlas mountains. It was sponsored by adventure travel company Epic Morocco.

Preparations are done for the Atlas to Atlantic Expedition. An expedition from the highest point of North Africa, Mount Toubkal at 4167m, to the Atlantic Ocean. 300km straight across the Atlas Mountains, self-supported. It hasn't been done before. I piled on the pounds towards the end of last year. Lack of a clear running, cycling or adventure goal for January, the delights of Christmas and a lack of will power all came together and helped me gain that extra fat. For the New Year, I decided to combine some research with a quest to lose weight. Three months - three diets that different nutritionists swear by - paleo, vegan and calorie counting. I thought that a month for each was a fair crack of the whip.
