Adventure
The Atlas Expedition
On August 21st 2020 I set off from Nador on Morocco’s Mediterranean coast to walk 1400km to the Dam of Gold at Ouarzazate across the mountains. With me were Brahim Ahalfi and Addi Bin Youssef from the Draa and Sahara Expeditions and joining us was Ali Ahalfi. 3 of our original camels were carrying our baggage: Hamish, Hector and Sausage and we had three new boys along too - including gorgeous Farquhar. This was the third part of our Moroccan trilogy.
It was an extraordinary time to do an expedition - in this time of Corona - and it added difficulty to the venture but it also meant we got to walk through history and chart the effects of the virus on the remotest of communities. And then there was the fun part - we found dinosaurs!
The expedition organiser was Jean-Pierre Datcharry of Dar Daif and it was sponsored by Craghoppers and NTT DATA UK Diversity and Inclusion Team.

Against the odds, we managed to complete the expedition and arrive safely in Ouarzazate. Currently, I am stuck in Scotland but busily writing the book. Read a wee preview of dinosaur drama here.
